Clear your inbox

Your inbox gets cleared as part of the rituals you already do, without a separate session. The Morning Brief and the End of Day Reflection each include a short Clear your inbox step whenever you have raw captures.

Where it shows up

  • In the morning, after yesterday's tasks and before Plan my day. It covers every capture that's still raw. If the inbox is the only thing waiting, the Morning Brief still opens for it: All clear from yesterday. 6 captures to clear.
  • In the evening, after you've rolled over today's open tasks. It covers only what you captured today, so the same item never comes up twice in one day. If older captures are waiting too, a line offers to add them: and 6 older — include.

With an empty inbox, there's no step at all.

How it works

Cadeo groups your captures by where they'll go, so you make a few decisions instead of one per item:

  • → Personal, this week · 3 means three captures that would go to your Personal area, scheduled for this week.
  • → Cadeo project · 2 means two that belong in a project.
  • Needs a home holds anything Cadeo couldn't place. It starts unticked: pick where it goes and it's included.

Every group is ticked to start with, and one button, File N, files all the ticked ones. N counts exactly what will be filed.

To change a group, open it:

  • When chips (Today in the morning, Tomorrow, This week, Next week, No date, Someday) move the whole group.
  • Where chips pick an area. Other… lists every area and project.
  • ✕ keep in inbox holds one capture back.

The step shows at most five groups and twelve captures, so the ritual stays short. Anything beyond that stays in your inbox: 7 more stay in your inbox · Open inbox.

What File changes

Only where (the area or project) and when (the day or week). Priority, duration and deadline are left alone, and you can set them in Inbox Triage.

When Cadeo has no real clue about timing, it suggests the area alone, with no date, rather than putting everything in This week.

Undo

After you file, the next screen says what happened, for example 8 filed · inbox down to 4, with an Undo that puts every one of them back. If you close the ritual without using it, the Undo moves to a notification for a few seconds. If a capture couldn't be saved (say you were offline), it stays in your inbox and the line tells you: 7 of 8 filed · 1 stayed in your inbox.

Not now

Not now skips the step. Your captures stay in the inbox and the ritual carries on as usual.

Privacy

On the desktop app, the suggestions come from AI on your Mac. On the web they come from Cadeo's cloud AI where your plan allows, or else from Cadeo's own on-device rules. With local-only AI turned on, nothing is sent to the cloud: the step still works, using on-device suggestions.
