Morning Brief

Each morning when you sign in to Cadeo, a calm bottom sheet slides up to help you start the day. It's the pair to the End-of-Day Reflection — the evening closes the day, the morning opens the next.

What you see

  • Yesterday's open tasks. Anything you scheduled for yesterday but didn't tick off.
  • A small "worth a look" tail. Up to 5 older overdue items that Cadeo thinks you'd still want to do today.
  • Today at a glance. How many tasks are scheduled and how many events are on your calendar.

If you signed in with nothing carried over, you'll see a quick "Inbox zero from yesterday" message instead.

How the smart tail is ranked

Where you use CadeoHow the tail is ranked
Desktop app (any plan)Local AI on your machine via Ollama — private, fast, free
Web app, Pro planGemini 2.5 Flash via the cloud, with privacy filters
Web app, Free planA simple recency-and-relevance ranker — no AI calls

The AI version may also include a one-line observation above the rows ("3 of these are about project Atlas — focus block?") to help you spot a pattern.

Why? — the reasoning inspector

A quiet Why? button appears at the top-right of the brief once Cadeo has finished ranking. Click it to open the AI reasoning inspector — the same modal Cadeo Chat, Plan My Day, and Inbox Triage use. It shows:

  • The model that produced the ranking (cloud Gemini, local Qwen 3, or the heuristic fallback when the model didn't fire)
  • The AI path taken — useful when you want to confirm whether the cloud or local model was actually used
  • Each smart-tail item with its age signal (so you can see why an item made the cut)
  • The narrative summary verbatim
  • A sample of the shelved items (older work that was moved to Someday)

Hidden by default; opens only when you ask.

Per-task chips

For each row, pick where it goes:

Click Apply & continue when you're done. Older items not in the "worth a look" tail are quietly moved to Someday (you'll see an Undo snackbar for 8 seconds if you change your mind).

Skip vs Apply

Apply & continueYour chip choices are applied. Older items move to Someday. A wrap is recorded.
Skip (or Esc)The sheet closes. Nothing changes. The Brief won't show again until tomorrow.

The Brief fires once per day, per browser. If you sign out and back in on the same day, it stays dismissed.

Settings

Open Settings → Notifications → End of Day Reflection. The Morning Brief toggle controls whether the brief slides up at sign-in. It's on by default.

Why we built this

The morning login is the highest-intent moment of the day. Cadeo's goal is to make it feel calm — not a guilt-trip, not a task-list tax. One quiet sheet, decisions in 30 seconds, and you're on with your day.
