Moving Things Around

Most things in Cadeo can be dragged. The six-dot grip tells you which.

The Grip

Hover over a task row or a note card and a small six-dot grip appears at its left edge, just after the area colour:

  • Its presence means "this can be dragged"
  • You can grab the grip or anywhere else on the row — both work the same way
  • Rows with and without an area colour line up identically, so nothing shifts as you move down a list

On a touch screen the grip is always faintly visible, since there is no hover. Dragging there is a long press on the row, as before.

tip

Clicking the grip on its own does nothing — it won't open the task. That's deliberate, so a grab that slips doesn't pop open something you didn't want.

What You Can Drag Where

Tasks can be dragged onto:

  • A time on the planner to schedule them — see Scheduling Tasks on Timeline
  • A day column in Week view
  • An area or project in the sidebar to file them
  • A sidebar filter — Today, Tomorrow, This Week, Next Week, Anytime, Someday or No area
  • Another position in the list to reorder
  • A different section inside a project

Notes can be dragged onto an area or a project in the sidebar to file them.

If a Drag Doesn't Take

Release over a valid target — the target highlights as you pass over it. If you drop somewhere that isn't a drop target, the item simply returns to where it started; nothing is lost.
